They call me Spindles...
You can too!
My name is Courtney Larsen, aka Spindles, and I am the artist, designer and maker here. I'm a third generation Arizonan who loves all things desert, including the heat. I have a deep love for creating, and am constantly working in new mediums and finding new materials to incorporate into my work.
I studied Fine Art Drawing at ASU, and during that time participated in and won the X-Square competition with my design team. Our shade sculpture, Peritoneum, spent a year at the ASU Herberger Design School before finding its home on Roosevelt Row in Downtown Phoenix.
After college, my sister got married and I created her invitations and signage as a gift. It was the first time I'd ever attempted anything wedding related, but it clicked immediately that custom wedding pieces could combine my passions of calligraphy and illustration, and I knew I wanted to be a part of that. 5 years later, I love bringing original artwork into each wedding suite I create.
Art has been a major part of my life as far back as I can remember. My mom would read me stories as a kid, draw out our favorite scenes, and I would get to watercolor what she had drawn. This small tradition instilled in me a love of art and literature, and the idea that images can tell a story. Today, storytelling and visual emotion continues to be a big part of my creative endeavors.
